Kunal Kamra has stated in the affidavit filed before the Supreme Court that the jokes are not real and they do not even claim to be so. In the contempt notice, Kunal Kamra refused to apologize before the Supreme Court. In her affidavit, Kamra wrote that my tweet is not intended to undermine people’s trust in the judiciary. Along with this, Kamra has also written that if the Supreme Court believes that I have crossed a line and my internet should be shut down, then I too, like my Kashmiri friends, will celebrate Happy Independence Day on August 15 every year. Apart from this, Kamra wrote that in democracy it is highly irrational and undemocratic to consider any institution above criticism. Kamra took up the case of Munnavar Farooqui during this period, saying that artists like Munnavar are being put in jail because of jokes. other than this We see an attack on freedom of speech and expression which they have not done. Even school students are being questioned for treason. Kunal has also written in his affidavit that he hopes that the court will consider freedom of expression constitutional value. Kamra has further said that due to the violation of freedom of expression, we, the unorganized artists will continue to decrease in the country and will become lapdogs.

Apart from this, Kamra has said that I disagree with many rulings of the courts but promise that I will respect any judgment of the court with a smile and will not defy any judge or Supreme Court in this case as that would be contempt of court.
