Newborns, minors are being excluded from vaccination. Now, however, it will be possible to vaccinate children up to 12 years of age, including six-month-old infants. American biotech company Modern is developing a vaccine for this age group.

According to Reuters, mRNA-1273 Coronavirus Vaccine testing has been started. The vaccine will be for children under 12 years of age, the company said. The test involved 6,750 children from the United States and Canada. The safety and effectiveness of the vaccine are being studied in this test. Two doses of the vaccine will be given during this test.

The Coronavirus vaccine, developed by Modern, is already being given to people 18 years of age and older for emergency use. The mRNA-1273 vaccine has been tested in December for children under 12 to 18 years of age.

The research is currently being conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority.

Meanwhile, the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine is claimed to be safe for young children. In Israel, 600 children between the ages of 12 and 16 were vaccinated. None of them had serious side effects. The vaccine is said to be safe for young children as such claims were made even before the results of the vaccine test came to light. Israel’s health minister has instructed vaccinated sick children in adolescents who are most at risk of contracting the corona infection. “We have so far administered the Pfizer vaccine to 600 children,” said Boj Lev, head of the vaccination campaign in Israel. So far no child has experienced serious side effects. Very few people have experienced mild side effects, he said.
