Indian Railway has announced an increase in platform ticket prices. Passengers will now have to pay three times as much as Rs 30 for a platform ticket which costs Rs 10. At the same time, local train fares have also been increased. Tickets for Rs 10 will now cost Rs 30.

This is the second increase in fares for short-haul passenger trains in February. To curb unnecessary travel during the Corona period ‘slightly Fare increase the explanation given by the railway administration was given at this time.

Earlier, the Indian Railway had hiked fares on all trains except suburban trains from January 1. As a result, although the rates of suburban fares did not change, the fares of ordinary non-AC, non-suburban trains were increased by 1 paisa per km. After that, the Railways had announced an increase of two paise per km in fares for Mail, Express non-AC trains, and four paise per km in AC class fares.

The number of some special trains has been increased by the Railways during the Corona Lockdown period. After the initial long-distance trains, short-distance passenger trains have also returned to the tracks as ‘special trains’. The fare hike is also applicable to Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Duranto premium trains.

10 in Mumbai Platform ticket 50 rupees

The railway administration had stopped issuing platform tickets to prevent congestion at railway stations during the Coronation period. However, platform tickets have been re-introduced at seven important railway stations in the Mumbai division for relatives arriving at the station to drop off elderly and disabled passengers. The ticket price has been increased from Rs 30 to Rs 50. These railway stations include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, and Bhiwandi Road. On the other hand, passenger unions have accused the railway administration of looting train passengers under the name of Corona.
