Mehul Choksi Dominica: The fugitive Mehul Choksi, accused of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam in India, has been arrested by Dominica. Dominica’s police are now preparing to hand over Choksi to the Antiga police, with Mehul Choksi suddenly disappearing 3 days ago. On May 23, a member of Choksi’s family lodged a report of her disappearance, since then her search was on continuously. Choksi is on the Wanted List of the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI.

It may be noted that fugitive diamond businessman Mehul Choksi, who lives in Antigua and Barbuda, is wanted in a case of alleged fraud of Rs 13,500 crore with Punjab National Bank.

Prime Minister Gaston Brown has said that he has “no reliable information” to date that Choksi has left the country and it is likely that Choksi was in Antigua and Barbuda.

In a statement to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, Brown said that the authorities were cooperating with the Indian government, neighboring countries and the International Police Organization in an effort to locate Choksi.

Choksi was last seen in his car on Sunday

Earlier, Antigua police said in a statement that Choksi was last seen in his car on Sunday. The car has been recovered by the police but nothing has been known about Choksi. Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Agarwal confirmed the news of his client’s disappearance.

He was missing since Sunday 23 May 2021

The Antigua Police on Sunday released a statement regarding Choksi’s disappearance. The police started his search on Sunday and released a statement with his photograph so that people can get information about him. The statement said, ‘Police missing 62-year-old Mehul Choksi, a resident of Jolly Harbor. Is investigating the case of being. A complaint of Choksi’s disappearance has been lodged at Johnson Point Police Station. He has been missing since Sunday 23 May 2021. ‘

Choksi acquired citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda in 2017.

The local media institute ‘AntiguaNewsroom’ quoted Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney on Tuesday as saying that the police were “trying to trace the Indian businessman Mehul Choksi”, whose disappearance was reported. Choksi, who had taken citizenship of Barbuda, was seen driving in the south on Sunday. Later his vehicle was recovered but nothing was found of Choksi. Choksi acquired citizenship of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda in 2017, before fleeing to India in January 2018.
Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi have been accused of allegedly cheating Punjab National Bank of Rs 13,500 crore with the connivance of some bank officials. Nirav Modi is currently lodged in a London jail. The Central Bureau of Investigation is investigating against both.
