The agitation started at the same time as the farmers’ agitation against the three new central agricultural laws. Among them, many of the farmers who entered the border from Punjab-Haryana had also set up camp in Kundli.

Proponents allege that Navdeep Kaur, a Dalit girl who supported the farmers’ movement, was targeted by the administration. Navdeep Kaur was charged with attempted murder. He was also accused of extortion, theft, inciting riots, participating in illegal mobs and threatening.

She is a native of Muktsar, Punjab. She works for a company in the industrial area of ​​Sonipat’s Kundli. Her office is just three kilometers from the Delhi-Haryana border (the site of the farmers’ agitation). Along with her, her colleague Shivkumar was also arrested. Navdeep has been granted bail in two cases of ransom and intimidation.

Serious allegations against the police

On the other hand, serious allegations have been leveled against the police by Navdeep Kaur. “We have not undergone a medical examination. This is a violation of Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” he said. Navdeep Kaur’s sister has alleged that Navdeep was beaten and sexually harassed by male policemen at the police station. Her sister demanded that action be taken against Navdeep, who has bruises on his private parts.

Police explanation

Police, however, denied the allegations. Three policemen were injured in the attack by her. A female constable was also involved in the incident, police said. On February 8, the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes had directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to provide relief to her. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had also issued notice to the Haryana government on the alleged illegal arrest of kaur.
