Roadside religious structures: Yogi government orders removal of religious encroachments on roads, sidewalks

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department on Thursday issued orders to all district collectors to remove encroachments in the name of religious places. In this case, all the district collectors have to pay Rs Religious transgressions It has to be informed that it has been deleted.

In Uttar Pradesh, religious encroachments on public roads (including highways), streets, and sidewalks erected on or after January 1, 2011, will be removed. Such constructions are now banned.

It is learned that the directive was issued by the Home Department while implementing the order passed by the High Court. All the district collectors will have to submit a report to the government implementing these orders. The chief secretary will review himself within two months.

Instructions have been issued to all the Divisional Commissioners, ADG Zones, Commissioners of Police, IG, DIG Range, DM, and SP in this regard. According to these instructions, religious constructions on public roads, streets, sidewalks constructed before January 1, 2011, should be shifted within six months after consulting the concerned people. Religious constructions should be removed even without the consent of the citizens and such reports should be sent to the government.

The responsibility of removing encroachments on roads, streets, and sidewalks by religious structures has been handed over to the concerned district officials. If an encroachment is found, it will be a contempt of court and the concerned officer will be personally responsible for it, the order said.
