Despite a big win in the previous match, India will have to find a proper solution to the pink ball questions to put England in trouble in the third day-night Test match starting on Wednesday on Motera’s fledgling pitch. The Sardar Patel Stadium was renovated and now looks huge but the Test match is taking place after a long time and hence Virat Kohli’s team will not expect too much profit.

India would like the pitch to help the spinners to take a 2–1 lead, but how the pitch will behave remains to be seen. Senior batsman Rohit Sharma had clarified the team’s opinion about the pitch. He wants a pitch that helps spinners like Ashwin and Akshar Patel. Just as Joe prioritizes grassy pitches at Root Handigley or Old Trafford. Indian fast bowler Ishant said, “We are playing this test with a pink ball so we don’t know how to overcome them.” The wicket will be the same as in Chepak.

Kuldeep can get rest

Umesh Yadav has been successful in a fitness test and this is good news for India. In such a situation, Kuldeep Yadav can be ruled out of the playing XI. Umesh and Ishant had dismissed Bangladesh twice in six sessions in the first-day night Test match played in Kolkata. But England has players like Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Johnny Bairstow who will pose a tough challenge. Hardik Pandya has been included in the Test team to reduce the workload of the bowlers but is not sure whether the team is considering him ready for the Test match.

England’s double spin attack

Moin Ali has returned overseas due to England’s rotation policy and Dom Bess may be included in the spin department alongside Jack Leach. But it is not sure whether Stuart Broad or Mark Wood will get a place in the playing XI with Anderson and Joffra Archer. In addition, talented batsman Jack Crowley could be retained in the playing XI in place of Rory Burns while John Lawrence Bairstow will replace Dan Lawrence at number three.

Gavaskar-Kapil’s records are made here only

Ahmedabad is a venue that has witnessed many happy achievements related to Indian cricket. Sunil Gavaskar completed 10,000 Test runs here. It was here that Kapil Dev gave his best with nine wickets for 83 runs and later broke the record of Richard Hadlee’s highest Test wicket at the same ground. On Wednesday, Ishant Sharma will play at the same ground to play his 100th Test match and will become the second Indian fast bowler to achieve this feat after Kapil. Where Sachin Tendulkar completed his first double century in Test matches, Ravichandran Ashwin will try to join the club to take 400 Test wickets for which he needs six wickets.

The teams are

India: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Riddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj / Umesh Yadav.
