On February 25, 2021, the Central Government had asked the Ministry of Electronics and IT of India to appoint a compliance officer, nodal officer, etc. within 3 months to regulate digital content. Companies are required by law to appoint compliance officers and their names and addresses must be from India – including resolving grievances, monitoring objectionable material, compliance reports, and removal of objectionable material.

The new rules will also create a committee comprising people from the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, Law, IT, and Women, and Child Development.
