Gangaur is a popular festival celebrated in the Indian state of Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. It is primarily a women’s festival, dedicated to the goddess Gauri, who represents purity and marital bliss.

The festival is celebrated in the month of Chaitra (March-April), starting from the day of Holi and lasts for 18 days. During this time, women dress up in traditional Rajasthani attire, apply mehndi on their hands, and observe a fast for the long life of their husbands.

The highlight of the Gangaur festival is the colorful procession of women carrying clay idols of Gauri and Isar (an incarnation of Lord Shiva), decorated with flowers and traditional Rajasthani ornaments, on their heads. The procession is accompanied by music, dance, and other cultural performances.
