District Child Protection Units

The State-wise number of District Child Protection Units (DCPU) formed and currently operational, supported under Child Protection Service(CPS) Scheme is at Annexure-I. The details of funds released and utilised by the States/UTs during last year is at Annexure-II.

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021, to amend the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, has been passed by the Parliament. The amended Act shall empower District Magistrates (DM) with the responsibility of care and protection of vulnerable children and the DM shall supervise the functioning of District Child Protection Unit.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
