Devuthanna Ekadashi 2023: Devuthani Ekadashi fast is observed every year on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. In Hinduism it is also called Prabodhni Ekadashi, Devutthani Ekadashi and Devutthani Gyaras. It has special significance because on this day Lord Vishnu wakes up from his Yoga Nidra and the operation of creation starts again. This festival also marks the conclusion of the four-month Chaturmas. Devuthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on 23 November 2023. Chaturmas ends with the four-month long Yoga Nidra of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu. Ekadashi has great importance in Hindu scriptures. Therefore, devotees should stop consuming onion, garlic, meat, alcohol and other tamasic food from the tenth day itself. In this festival, devotees wake up in Brahma Muhurta and start the fast after taking bath. The mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’ is chanted during the puja as it is considered very auspicious. According to popular beliefs, Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi of Ashadha month and then comes out of Yoga Nidra on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, hence this Ekadashi is said to have special significance.
