On this day Ahoi Mata is worshiped with rituals. It is believed that by fasting on this day, Ahoi Mata becomes happy and blesses her devotees.
Worshipers of Ahoi observe a daily fast to pray for the safety of their children, and the fast is broken after the first sight of the stars in the evening sky. This fast is considered very difficult to observe. Like Karva Chauth, during the fast of Ahoi Ashtami too, in many places water is not drunk for the whole day. It is also kept dry. It is believed that by fasting on this day, Ahoi Mata becomes happy and blesses her devotees.
