Before the assembly elections in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the ‘Maa Kitchens’ scheme digitally on Monday, under which the state government will provide food to the poors at an affordable price of five rupees. Under this scheme, people will get rice, lentils, a vegetable and egg curry in a plate for just five rupees.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party has called it an election trick and rejected it. Launching it, Mamata Banerjee said that this is Maa’s Kitchen and we are proud of our mothers. Wherever there will be a mother, things will be good. We salute our mothers.

Mamata said that the state government will bear a subsidy of Rs 15 per plate and people will get it for 5 rupees. She said that self-help groups would operate cooks every day between 1 pm and 3 pm and gradually such kitchens would be installed everywhere in the state.

Mamta said that someday I will go and taste it. Under this scheme, people will get food on first come first serve basis. Mamata said, “This is a unique idea. We announced this plan in the budget and were successful in launching it within eight days. “He thanked the officials of various departments for making it possible in such a short time.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamta said that the state government has allocated Rs 1,00 crore for the scheme. She said, “It has been started on an experimental basis and there may be some problems in the beginning.” On the first day, in addition to Kolkata, ‘Maa kitchen’ started at some places in districts like Malda, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Medinipur and Howrah.

The ruling Trinamool Congress launched a similar initiative called ‘Didir Ranaghar’ in the state in September last year in which food was given to migrant laborers who lost their jobs during lockdown for five rupees. Let me tell you that the assembly elections in the state of West Bengal are to be held in April-May.
