Off-campus can open private universities in UP: Dinesh Sharma
Dinesh Sharma: The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Dinesh Sharma informed that the universities established in the private sector have been given permission to open ‘off-campus centers’. These centers will be operated as a constituent unit of the private university. That private university will not have the right to affiliate with them.

Dr. Sharma informed that three important amendments have been made in the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act-2019. The first amendment is to allow private universities to set up ‘off-campus centers’, the second amendment to allow the establishment of private universities on the availability of land according to the name of the colleges, and the third amendment under the Private Universities Act-2019 The first Statutes of Universities established or incorporated are related to the making by the Executive Council. He said that by allowing private sector universities to open ‘off-campus centers’ in addition to the main campus, the number of higher education institutions will increase as per the requirements of the New Education Policy-2020. In the new education policy, emphasis has been laid on establishing at least one higher education institution in or near each district, increasing the gross enrollment rate, and providing institutional autonomy to the higher educational institutions.
