Rang Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrated in parts of India, particularly in the western states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. The festival is usually observed on the fifth day (Panchami) after the full moon in the month of Phalguna (February/March), which is also the day of Holi.

Rang Panchami is primarily a celebration of color and is marked by the throwing of colored powder, water, and flower petals on one another. People gather in public places and streets, and spray each other with colored water and powders, sing and dance to music, and share sweets and snacks.

The festival has religious significance as well, with devotees performing puja (worship) to Lord Krishna and Radha, and seeking their blessings for happiness and prosperity. Some people also perform havan (a fire ritual) on this day.

While Rang Panchami is celebrated in a similar way to Holi, the latter is considered a bigger and more significant festival. In some parts of Maharashtra, Rang Panchami is also known as Shimga or Shimgo, and is celebrated by setting up bonfires and burning old items, symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
