The first World Forestry Day was celebrated in 1971, Van Mahotsav is being celebrated in India since July 1950. In fact, in November 1971, at the 16th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization’s convention, member states supported the establishment of a “World Forestry Day” on 21 March each year.
