Joe Root made world record in his 100th test, became the only player in the world to do so

England captain Joe Root is playing his 100th Test against India at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Root became the 15th English cricketer to play 100 Tests. Became the third youngest cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Alastair Cook who played 100 Tests. Joe Root is considered one of the ‘Fab-4’ batsmen of the modern era. The English captain’s record in Asia has been excellent. He has scored here at an average of 54. Joe Root recently crossed the 8,000 test run mark and surpassed the likes of Geoffrey Boycott and Kevin Pietersen.

Let us know that Joe Root made a special world record in his 100th test. He is the only cricketer in the world to have played his first, 50th and 100th Test at the same overseas (India) venue. Root made his Test debut against India in Nagpur in 2012, in which he scored 73 runs. In India itself, Root played his 50th Test and 100th Test. Root became the first player in the same foreign country and the third player in the world to play the 100th Test.

Earlier, former India captain Kapil Dev and former West Indies captain Carl Hooper did this feat. Kapil Dev played the first and 100th Test match of his career in Pakistan. Karl Hooper played the first and 100th Test match of his career in India. Now Root has played his first and 100th Test in India.

Root’s test career is excellent

Joe Root has scored 8,249 runs in Test cricket at an average of 49.39, including 19 centuries and 49 half-centuries. Root is England’s fourth best test scorer. Next to them are Alastair Cook (12,472), Graham Gooch (8,900) and Alec Stewart (8,463). Root was given the command of England’s test team in 2017. Since then, Root has led England in 46 Tests, winning 25 matches, losing 15 and finishing on 6 draws. The England team has the best Root winning percentage (54.34) out of 40 or 8 captains heading into the test.
